Paul is an awesome instructor. His outstanding people skills allow him to meet the specific needs of each individual. He is adept at finding and correcting your movements and demonstrating ways to correct them on your own. He is making me a better HKC and future RKC. His knowledge of kettlebell's, movements, and overall exercise physiology is outstanding. I have the privilege of learning something new each time we have class. I would encourage anyone in the area to challenge yourself to try Paul's classes and take your fitness to a level you could never imagine. I have no problem driving over 1 hour to get great instruction and workouts!!

After two back surgeries and years of "workout fear" Paul has brought my strength and agility to a new level. At 63 I didn't think I would ever find a workout that I enjoyed. Paul has worked with me and I'm able to achieve more flexibility than I thought possible. His classes are fun yet very productive and he truly cares about the people in his classes. He demands excellent form and works with students to achieve their goals. He is very aware of student limitations and stresses safety. I'm glad I found his classes and hope to enjoy them for years to come.

Paul's Kettlebell class is a wonderful interactive way to achieve a full body workout. I had always thought group classes were a joke and lacked intensity. I enjoyed working out by myself or with a partner but never in a larger setting. Now when I go to the gym and get on the treadmill I am literally bored to tears! Paul's class has provided me with a new and exciting way to look at exercise and challenge myself! Paul's class is time well spent!!

What is a Kettlebell?

A 'kettlebell'  is a traditional Russian cast iron weight that looks like a cannonball with a handle. The Russian Special Forces personnel owe much of their wiry strength, lethal agility and never-quitting stamina to kettlebells. Soldier, Be Strong! The official Soviet armed forces strength training manual pronounced kettlebell drills to be "one of the most effective means of strength development" representing "a new era in the development of human strength-potential."  It is not just the ex-Communist Paradise that uses the kettlebell. They are used by the Secret Service, Special Ops, NFL and other American Heroes.

What will kettlebells do for your body weight?

Kettlebells melt fat without additional aerobics; losing 1% of body fat a week for weeks is not uncommon. If you are overweight, you will add lean muscle while losing fat. If you are skinny, you will add usable lean muscle. Kettlebells are a very powerful tool for changing your body composition, no matter what direction it needs to go.

Kettlebells deliver all around fitness!

Kettlebell training lowers the heart rate and the blood pressure. Exercises with kettlebells enable one to quickly build strength, endurance and achieve a balanced development of all muscle groups, fix particular movement deficiencies. They also build and improve all around physical prowess and health. Most methods that claim "all around fitness" deliver no more than compromises in what they promise. We guarantee the reults!  Accept no compromises - choose Britt's Training Systems!

Are kettlebells dangerous? Am I too young or too old?

Only 8.8% of top Russian gireviks, members of the Russian National Team and regional teams, reported injuries in training or competition (Voropayey, 1997). A remarkably low number, especially since runners have an 80% chance of being injured over a year of training.  It is important to realize these people were not regular guys but elite athletes who really push their bodies to the edge.  This does not give you an excuse to lift kettlebells haphazardly and without proper training, as any type of strength training can be dangerous if you use bad judgment, bad form and bad technique. As for the age, at the 1995 Russian championship the youngest contestant was 16, the oldest 53! And we are talking elite competition here; the range is even wider if you are training for improvement rather than for a competition.  At Britt's Training Systems we have 10 year olds through 63 year olds training with us.
